Resonance of steel wind turbines: Problems and solutions

چکیده
This paper deals with an experimental and numerical dynamic characterization of two steel wind turbines currently located in Italy. The considered are onshore were originally built more than 20 years ago 65 m height (from the ground level to hub). Five ago, they unmounted reassembled present location. During this phase, due local national environmental prescriptions, shortened about 45 (hub height). Unfortunately, procedure generated a huge problem their structural behaviour: fundamental frequency vibration both “shorter” become close working rotors, causing resonance problem. To evaluate exactly turbine frequencies modal shapes, monitoring involving several accelerometers has been implemented. Then, finite element models (FEM) have developed investigate influence soil-structure interaction (SSI) on behaviour these structures. Finally, practical solutions overcome proposed discussed. Since investigated problems can arise for any worldwide turbine, general validity be extended many other different cases.

SHM of Floating Offshore Wind Turbines— Challenges and First Solutions
The paper presents an integrated SHM-system for floater, moorings, tower, nacelle and rotor blades. Its core is based on a multivariate SHM-system for rotor blades with three different measuring techniques accompanied by appropriate signal processing approaches: Acoustic Emission (AE) is used for identification of relative small damages at the whole blade, e.g. bursts of fibres, cracks of bon...
متن کاملMechanism of Localized Corrosion of Steel Pipe Pile Foundation for Offshore Wind Turbines and Corrosive Action
The wind turbine foundation serves as a permanent construction in the harsh marine corrosive environment, its anticorrosion design is essential to the safe use of the wind turbine structure. At present, there is a significant controversy over the local corrosion mechanism (such as pitting corrosion, and crevice corrosion) and its diffusion mechanism in the academic circle. In the paper, the Far...
متن کاملWind Turbines and Human Health
The association between wind turbines and health effects is highly debated. Some argue that reported health effects are related to wind turbine operation [electromagnetic fields (EMF), shadow flicker, audible noise, low-frequency noise, infrasound]. Others suggest that when turbines are sited correctly, effects are more likely attributable to a number of subjective variables that result in an a...
متن کامل41.3 Wind Turbines
The development of windmills has a long tradition. Windmills were already in use in Japan and China thousands of years ago. The great irrigation systems of Babylon are thought to have been powered by windmotors. Examples of windmills erected almost 2000 years ago still exist in Egypt. 'Wind power generation was first introduced to the Western world around the 8th century A.D. By the 16th centur...
متن کاملDirect - Drive Wind Turbines
The objective of this paper is to identify suitable generator concepts for direct-drive wind turbines by reviewing directdrive and geared generator systems. Usually, in literature, comparison of different generator systems is discussed with the criteria based on the energy yield, cost, and weight. Because direct-drive permanent-magnet machines are more superior in terms of the energy yield, rel...
